What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Seven years ago it was exhibits at the fantastic Newark Air Museum in Nottinghamshire.

The Hunting Jet Provost is a type of aircraft I saw regularly as a child, on training sorties from (I believe) Royal Air Force (RAF) Cranwell.

The Vickers Varsity (shown here with one of its Bristol Hercules 264 radial engines uncovered) was another type used in a training role by the RAF… I don’t recall ever seeing one fly though.

The Newark Air Museum is well worth a visit, with over 70 aircraft (or parts thereof) on display there’s plenty to interest both the enthusiast and the casual visitor.
