Another image from my first roll of Kosmo Foto Mono 100 film…

Starvehimvalley Bridge carries a narrow track over the Cromford Canal, the remnants of which now form a small fishing pond.

‘Starvehimvalley’ is an unusual name, the origins of which have been lost with time, none of my local contacts can shed any light on it…

Last week I did a little exploring on one of the many old railway lines hereabouts…

This is the former Buckland Hollow branch line in Derbyshire, the branch, off the Midland Railway’s Ambergate to Pye Bridge line, served Ambergate Brickworks and Heage and Hartshay Collieries.

Passenger services on the Ambergate to Pye Bridge line ceased in 1947 and the line closed completely in December 1968 but I believe that some of the track was recovered for use at what is now the Midland Railway-Butterley.

This is my first roll of Kosmo Foto Mono 100 film and it certainly won’t be my last, it’s a beautiful film, grainy and high in contrast (but in a pleasantly traditional way) and very reasonably priced!

Monochrome Monday… The narrowboat ‘SOVEREIGN’

Nikon FG, Nikon Series E 36-72mm f/3.5, – Kodak T-Max T400 CN

Lockdown is giving me chance to look through folders full of (mostly unidentified) negatives…

From the few notes I made at the time I can at least tell that this roll was shot in the summer of 2008 on a Nikon FG and mainly using a Nikon Series E 36-72mm f/3.5 lens.

The FG was one of the first cameras I bought when I returned to shooting film after shooting digital for a few years… I really ought to dig it out and use it again.

Single frame… Apple blossom and the Olympus OM40 Program

Last year my ‘Photography Friday’ partner (and camera finder extraordinaire) Rachel found an Olympus OM40 Program (and Tokina 28mm lens) in a charity shop in Chester… above is the final frame from the test roll of film.

I paired the camera with an Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens for most of the roll and also used an Olympus 49mm Close-Up Lens for a number of shots (including this one.)

I’m quite taken with the OM40… I won’t be parting with it!

Yet another Fujica GW690/Kodak T-Max 400/Y15 filter image from last year’s Scottish holiday…

I really can’t wait to visit Scotland again and my fingers are tightly crossed that the trip I’ve got booked for later this year will be able to go ahead…
