Snow kept me indoors last weekend so I attempted some still-life photography using a Mamiya C330f twin-lens reflex camera and a rather interesting accessory called a paramender… I’ll be writing about this setup next week.

Throwback Thursday… Steam at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Ten years ago it was this British Railways standard class 4MT 2-6-4T steam locomotive at Keighley station on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

The tight curve and steep gradient out of Keighley station always makes locomotives work hard and there are a number of spots from which interesting and dramatic images can be captured.

Handyside Bridge spans the River Derwent in Derby and used to carry the Great Northern Railway’s (GNR) Derbyshire and Staffordshire extension from Eggington Junction to Colwick.

You can now walk across the bridge from Darley Park to Chester Green… to the Little Chester Ale House should that appeal 😁
