What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Nine years ago it was some of the ‘ghost’ signs (old hand-painted advertising signs that have been preserved on a building for an extended period of time) dotted around the city of Derby.

The second ‘Butcher’ sign of the day… on this one I can also just make out the wording ‘Pork Pies and Sausages’.

I spent the last hour of my day enjoying a pint or two in the Sheffield Tap and finished off a roll of Pan F Plus on the comings and goings at the bar.

I’m becoming increasingly interested in street art, it adds some much needed colour and interest to our towns and cities and there are some fantastic examples to be seen in Nottingham and Sheffield, two places I visit regularly.

Panasonic Lumix GF1, Lumix G Vario OIS 14-45mm f/3.5~5.6 at 36mm, 1/320s, f8, ISO 320

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

12 years ago it was the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway near Cleethorpes.

The railway occupies a short stretch of the former Great Northern Railway (GNR) East Lincolnshire Line that once linked Grimsby to Boston.

Monochrome Monday… Fountains Abbey with the Nikon F80

A couple of photographs of Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire, taken with the Nikon F80 back in March this year.

I know I say this a lot but I really do need to make more notes when I’m out snapping! I’m certain the above pic is the west wall of the guest houses but I’m much less certain about the pic below…

I think it’s the remains of a staircase linking the Gallery to The Infirmary to the Abbot’s Gallery but I’m happy to be corrected!

The Nikon F80/AF NIKKOR 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6D is a combo I can see getting lots more use… it’s so lightweight!
