Six years ago it was the Forth Bridge, from both North and South Queensferry…

Sadly, the Albert Hotel at North Queensferry had closed its doors the previous year and as far as I know it still hasn’t reopened.

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Two years ago it was the ‘Granite City’ of Aberdeen and specifically some of the street art to be found there…

We must have walked past the above piece (by Spanish painter Pejac) half a dozen times before I eventually spotted it! Look closely, isn’t it wonderful?

The memorial to all who served at R.A.F. Sutton Bridge in Lincolnshire, photographed during a trip to Norfolk in September. The propeller blade is from a Hawker Hurricane.

The structure in the background is Cross Keys Bridge, a swing bridge spanning the River Nene. From 1897 until 1965 the bridge carried both the A17 road and the Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway line from Spalding to King’s Lynn. Now it just carries the A17.

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Nine years ago it was the hamlet of Villegeneray in the Nièvre department in central France, specifically the house I was staying in, although the word ‘house’ doesn’t do the place justice!
