Nikon D300, AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR at 56mm, 1/160s, f6.3, ISO 200

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

15 years ago it was the faded grandeur of Sutton Scarsdale Hall near Chesterfield in Derbyshire.

Dating from the 1720s the Grade 1 Listed structure has been derelict since the 1920s and was initially preserved in 1946 by Sir Osbert Sitwell of nearby Renishaw Hall but is now in the care of English Heritage.

Last time I visited the hall, the interior was closed to visitors but I understand it has now reopened.

Sludge Tank – Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day

Fujifilm X-E4, thingyfy 11mm Pinhole Pro S, 0.6s, f79, ISO 160

Today is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day and I’ve been out snapping with my Ondu 6×6 Pocket Pinhole camera and Fujifilm X-mount fit thingyfy Pinhole Pro S ‘lens’ mounted on my Fujifilm X-E4.

Apparently this rather decrepit railway wagon (photographed at the Midland Railway-Butterley) is a ‘sludge tank’ built in 1913 and once used by the National Coal Board.

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

15 years ago it was Another Place by Antony Gormley at Crosby beach on Merseyside.

I remember being somewhat underwhelmed by the sculptures and quickly turned my attention to the passing ships.
