I’m building up quite a backlog of black & white film developing at the moment… so here’s a pic from March 2024!
Digitised using Nikon D5600 & AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8, Nikon ES-2 Film Digitising Adapter and Negative Lab Pro plugin with minimal cropping and tweaking in Lightroom Classic CC.

Aspire, by Ken Shuttleworth
Canon EOS 300, EF 50mm f/1.8 II, 1/180s, f8 – Fujifilm Velvia 100F (expired 2/2013)
Another image from Expired Film Day 2025.
Aspire, designed by Ken Shuttleworth is a 200ft tall steel sculpture on the Jubilee Campus of the University of Nottingham and was, until overtaken by Anish Kapoor’s Orbit, the tallest free standing public work of art in the United Kingdom.
Definitely one of those occasions when I wish I’d packed a shorter focal length lens than 50mm!

In These Shoes?
Nikon D300, AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D, 1/60s, f2.8, ISO 200
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
16 years ago it was this strappy high-heeled shoe… why? I cannot for the life of me remember!

Minolta Dynax 800si, Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD at 35mm, 1/250s, f11 – Ilford Delta 400 Professional
Developed in Ilford Ilfotec DD-X at 1:4, 8 mins at 20°c.
Darlington’s Brick Train was created by David Mach in 1997 to celebrate the town’s railway heritage, and is modelled on the steam locomotive Mallard, which set a UK rail speed record of 126 miles per hour in 1938. The locomotive is depicted as if just having exited a tunnel, with the billowing smoke typical of such an exit.
The Minolta Dynax 800si is a chunky beast (especially with the Tamron SP lens attached) but I love using it and really don’t mind carrying it around…
Digitised using Nikon D5600 & AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8 and Nikon ES-2 Film Digitising Adapter with minimal cropping and tweaking in Lightroom Classic CC.

Some more of Beeston’s street art, photographed on Expired Film Day but this time on film only 12 years out of date!
This is just a small part of mural by that adorns The Quadrant, a multi-purpose venue next to Beeston Library. It was painted by Anna Wheelhouse and unveiled in May 2023.

Ding Dong Bell…
Fujifilm X-T10, Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS at 46mm, 1/300s, f8, ISO 200
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Nine years ago it was Ariel, at her human’s home in France where she loved to sit in the shade under the roof covering the water well.
A couple of people have likened this next image to a scene in the 1997 film Titanic… “Photograph me like one of your French cats” 😂

Ariel, my fave Kitty!

Park Hill Flats, Sheffield

Developed in Ilford DD-X at 1:4, 10½ mins at 20°c.
I’ve had a couple of days filing negatives and it’s prompted me to look back at a few older images…
I’ve photographed the Brutalist architecture of Park Hill in Sheffield a few times and no doubt will do so again, the flats really do dominate the Sheffield skyline!
