Pont de l’Archevêché, Octobre 2000
An image from September 2000 for today’s ‘Slide Film Sunday’
My first visit to Paris (on honeymoon no less) was when I started to make a conscious effort to include people in my images, the couple chatting on the river bank really making this image for me…
Digitised using Nikon D5500 & AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8 and Nikon ES-2 Film Digitising Adapter with minimal cropping and tweaking in Lightroom Classic CC.

Subway to Broadmarsh, Nottingham
Fujifilm X-T10, Fujinon XF 18-55mm f2.8~4 R LM OIS at 34mm, 1/60s, f8, ISO 800
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Five years ago it was the subway leading up into the Broadmarsh Shopping centre from the bus station in Nottingham… I remember thinking it had a Star Wars ‘trench run’ feel to it at the time…
Monochrome Monday… Berwick-upon-Tweed on Ilford HP5 Plus
Under the stairs, Berwick-upon-Tweed
Olympus OM-2 SPOT/PROGRAM, Zuiko Auto-S 50mm f/1.8, 1/60s, f8 – Ilford HP5 Plus rated at ISO 200
Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 7 mins at 20°c.
I can’t remember who on Twitter suggested rating Ilford HP5 Plus at ISO 200 but I thought I’d give it a try during a recent trip to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

First impressions are favourable, good tonal range and the grain looks finer too… contrast is reduced but that’s easy enough to fix in Lightroom (or a darkroom).

An image from May 2001 for today’s ‘Slide Film Sunday’
Again I’ve no notes as to the camera or film used for the above pic but I’m reasonably sure it was taken using a Nikon F90X, AF NIKKOR 24-85mm f/2.8-4D and Fujichrome Sensia film.

Throwback Thursday… Villegeneray, France
Propping up the roof
Fujifilm X-T10, Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS at 24mm, 1/200s, f8, ISO 200
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Five years ago it was the commune of Villegeneray in the Nièvre department in central France…
A delightfully rustic place, the ramshackle woodwork above supported the roof of a building home to a tractor and the Hollyhock was growing through the framework of a water well!

Slide Film Sunday… Bolton Castle, May 2003
Bolton Castle, May 2003
The recent purchase of a used Nikon ES-2 Film Digitising Adapter has prompted me to dig out a few of my old slides to tinker with…
I’ve no notes as to the camera or film used for the above pic of Bolton Castle but it’s a pretty good bet it was taken using a Nikon F90X, AF NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED and Fujichrome Sensia film (a combination I used a lot at the time…)
First impressions of the ES-2 are good, it’s well made (as you’d expect from Nikon) and simple to use so expect more ‘Slide Film Sunday’ posts!

Nikon D200, AF NIKKOR 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF-S DX at 70mm, 1/125s, f8, ISO 400
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
14 years ago it was the French commune of Mur-de-Barrez in the Aveyron department in southern France.
With a population of only 800 or so it was an incredibly peaceful little place to spend an afternoon, in fact we hardly saw a soul…

I can’t tell you why I find this image of the defunct cooling towers at Willington Power Station so appealing… I just do.
It’s also one of only half a dozen or so images (so far) taken with my Zoom-Nikkor 43-86mm f/3.5 Ai lens…
