Last Saturday saw four people undertake a madcap 550 mile round trip to Glasgow so that one of them (hi Mark!) could go to a football match.

Mark’s wife (and my regular ‘Photography Friday’ partner in crime, Rachel), my wife, Joy, and myself had a few hours to explore the city (and have a wee drink or two) but we were all keen to see as much of the city’s Mural Trail as possible.

The above image is of the first mural we found… Painted by Australian artist ‘Smug’ (Sam Bates) in 2016 it depicts St Mungo, Glasgow’s patron saint.

Btw, Rachel’s image of the mural is currently gracing the BBC’s ‘Your pictures of Scotland‘ page!

Something from the archives today…

Fountains Abbey near Ripon in North Yorkshire was founded in 1132 and became one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution in 1539 under the order of Henry VIII.

Now a Grade I listed building, the abbey is owned by the National Trust.

Ilford SFX 200 is a film I really should shoot again, I rather like its effects…

I’m having trouble sleeping tonight so rummaging through some images from a couple of years ago that haven’t yet seen the light of day…

This shot comes from a bitterly cold walk around the East Sussex town of Lewes in February 2017, I just liked the soft colours and the regimented shapes of these two doors.

Although the door numbers here are a very similar style I’ve often wondered about photographing all the different ways in which house numbers are displayed, ancient and modern, simple or elaborate…

The striking looking building in the centre of this image is Sheffield’s Charles Street Car Park, more commonly known as the ‘Cheese Grater’.

Designed by architects Allies and Morrison and opened in 2008, the ten storey structure contains 520 parking spaces and was voted ‘third coolest car park in the world’ in a 2013 competition.
