What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Six years ago it was the Cumbrian village of Coniston and Coniston Water.

The Steam Yacht Gondola is a much rebuilt Victorian, screw-propelled passenger vessel, launched in 1859. She was built to carry passengers for the Furness Railway’s steamer service and was in commercial service until 1936 when she was retired and 10 years later converted to a houseboat.

In 1979 she was extensively rebuilt by Vickers Shipbuilders of Barrow and is now operated by the National Trust.

19 years ago it was bustling port of Mallaig in the Highlands of Scotland.

The Caledonian MacBrayne ferry MV Coruisk (Coir’ Uisg’) (named after Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin of Skye) was plying its trade between Mallaig and Armadale on the Isle of Skye. It was built by Appledore Shipbuilders of Bideford in Devon and launched on 3 May 2003.

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Four years ago it was Seacliff Beach and Auldhame Castle in East Lothian.

Auldhame Castle dates from the 16th century and although now a ruin it is still an impressive structure overlooking the Firth of Forth. Not much is known about Auldhame’s history, it is somewhat overshadowed by its near neighbour Tantallon Castle.
