As the end of the year approaches we start to look forward to the next and one of the things I’m looking forward to is my ‘Photography Friday’ outings with my friend/partner in crime Rachel…

We’re definitely planning a return to the Lumsdale Valley near Matlock in Derbyshire to photograph the industrial ruins and the waterfalls again.

Single frame… A Happy Christmas to all*

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Cool Yule or whatever celebration floats your boat at this time of year…

A Christmas tree image from four years ago, captured at London St Pancras International railway station… If memory serves I steadied the camera by pressing it tightly up against one of the pillars that supports the upper level of the station.

2000 soft toys were provided by The Disney Store and when the ‘tree’ was taken down they were donated to KIDS, a charity which cares for disabled children, young people and their families.

Fujica GW690 + Y15 yellow filter – 1/250s, f11, – Kodak T-Max 400

Finally got around to scanning the films from my recent trip to the Isle of Whithorn!

Just before the trip I invested in a Tiffen Y15 yellow filter for the Fujica GW 690 that I’ve (still… thanks James!) got on loan and it stayed on the camera all week.

I’m not sure, but this might have been my first time shooting Kodak T-Max 400… If so, why haven’t I used it sooner? I love the combination of this film and filter!

A few frames from… Expired Film Day 2019

A very quick post today as I’m off to Bridlington tonight to see The Red Hot Chilli Pipers perform at the Spa!

Back in March one of mine and Rachel’s ‘Photography Friday’ jaunts coincided with Expired Film Day and these images were taken on a very battered Olympus μ [mju:] – II compact camera that I managed to pick up in a charity shop a few weeks before for a mere £1.95!

I was pleasantly surprised by how well these films performed, especially the Fuji Super G Plus 200 that was 22 years out of date!

This week’s ‘Photography Friday’ saw Rachel and I visit Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire coast to see the Grey Seals (Halichoerus grypus) that breed (and give birth to their pups) there every year between October and December.

The area is a salt marsh, used by the Royal Air Force as a bombing range but it is also home to a staggering 30% of the worldwide Grey Seal population!

The public viewing area is managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and the volunteer wardens do a fantastic job of keeping both seals and visitors safe, the above image was captured from well behind the fencing that separates the two!
