Fujica GW690 – 1/250s, f11, – Bergger Pancro 400

Some more films back from the lab today… This is another image from the Fujica GW 690 that I’ve currently got on loan and it’s on my first roll of Bergger Pancro 400 film.

It’s difficult to judge from just eight shots but the results from this film are quite soft (contrast-wise) which isn’t something I’m particularly used to… I’m pleased with the images though and will order a couple more rolls to experiment with.

Olympus OM-2 Spot/Program, Zuiko Auto-T 100mm f/2.8 – 1/125s, f8½, – Ilford HP5 Plus rated at ISO 640

A wander in the woods last week to have a play with a pinhole camera also gave me the chance to finish off a roll of Ilford HP5 Plus that’s been sitting in an Olympus OM-2 Spot/Program since December…

I certainly had more success with the Olympus than with the pinhole camera, the shots from that definitely won’t be appearing on here!

Throwback Thursday… Snowdrops

Snowdrops, February 2012Snowdrops, February 2012
Panasonic Lumix GF1, Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8, 1/50s, f4, ISO 200

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Seven years ago it was this clump of Snowdrops (Galanthus) in our garden.

To get the camera level with the flowers I reversed the centre column of my tripod, composing the image on the GF1’s LCD screen (a spinal injury means that I can’t get down to ground level anymore…)

The Micro Four Thirds fitting Leica Macro-Elmarit 45mm lens is a beautiful piece of kit… I miss it.

A much shorter ‘Photography Friday’ today with far fewer pictures taken.

This Large White butterfly (Pieris brassicae) rested briefly on the Great Willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum) growing beside the Chesterfield Canal at Tapton Lock Visitor Centre.

The shot is massively cropped from the original… I was doing my best to not fall in the canal!

Single frame… North Lane

A view south along North Lane near Belper in Derbyshire, part of an ancient route known as ‘The Portway’ and believed to be of Roman construction… Also a wonderfully cool place to be on a hot summer evening!

Photography Friday… Lumsdale Valley

Another Photography Friday trip today, this time to the Lumsdale Valley near Matlock in Derbyshire, a scheduled ancient monument and one of the best water-powered industrial archaeological sites in Great Britain.

Long exposure was the name of the game in the cool shade under the trees beside Bentley Brook and after a little bit of a wrestling match* Rachel got the hang of setting up a tripod!

I’d not been to the area for many years and was pleasantly surprised to see that little had changed since my last visit, the owners of the valley, The Arkwright Society are doing a fantastic job of preserving the site without spoiling its natural charm.

* That is to say, a wrestling match between Rachel and the tripod… I wasn’t involved.
