Quay Walls, Berwick-upon-Tweed
Nikon FE2, NIKKOR 35mm f/2 AI-S, 1/125s, f11 – Ilford Delta 400 Professional rated at ISO 320
Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 8 mins at 20°c.
Another pic from one of my visits to Berwick-upon-Tweed last year.
The buildings on Quay Walls date from the 18th century and are all at least Grade II listed.
The Nikkor 35mm f/2 AI-S lens has become a firm favourite as a slightly wider than standard ‘standard’ lens and I find myself using it more and more…

An image from another roll of film that’s been lurking in a camera since last year…
I paid a couple of visits to Berwick-upon-Tweed last year and it’s a place I could easily spend a lot more time in.
These chimney stacks were photographed during a stroll around the town walls (and before a pint in the fantastic Curfew Micropub!)
Rustic Swing, Rigg Bay
Nikon F3HP, NIKKOR 105mm f/2.5 AI-S, 1/2000s, f4 – Ilford Delta 400 Professional
Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 8 mins at 20°c.
I’ve finally got around to finishing and developing the roll of film that’s been in my Nikon F3HP since last October’s trip to Scotland!
Rigg (or Cruggleton) Bay is a beautiful spot near Garlieston in Dumfries and Galloway and was a fantastic place for a bracing walk along the beach at the end of October!
National Coal Board Fife Area No.19
Nikon F3HP, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI-S – 1/60s, f8, – Ilford HP5+ rated at ISO 320
This Hunslet Engine Co Ltd ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0ST locomotive was built in 1954 for the National Coal Board (NCB) and spent its entire working life in Fife, first at Michael Colliery and then at Comrie Colliery until the latter’s closure in 1986 when it was purchased by the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway (B&KR).
I only took one pic of the loco during my visit to a steam gala at Bo’ness in November 2018, I was too busy riding up and down behind it!

From Friday’s film disappointment (Foma Retropan 320) to a film I’m really beginning to love… Kentmere Pan 400.
Mercia Marina, January 2020
Nikon FE, Zoom-NIKKOR 43˜86mm f/3.5 AI at 43mm, 1/250s, f8½ – Kentmere 400
Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 11½ mins at 20°c.
Mercia Marina (off the Trent & Mersey Canal in South Derbyshire) is an odd mix of old boats and new buildings and it made for an interesting ‘Photography Friday’ outing back in January.
I was testing a (new to me) Nikon FE and shooting an inexpensive black & white film made sense as I’d just started home developing again.
Kentmere Pan 400 is certainly more contrasty than the Retropan and whilst still grainy, it’s a more ‘crisp’ grain that I rather like.
I’ve just bought some Kentmere Pan 100… let’s see what that’s like?

A pre-lockdown image from a beautiful spring afternoon’s visit to the local churchyard…
I owned a chrome Nikon FE around 25 years ago and loved it, only parting with it to fund the purchase of a Nikon F-801s for work, so when a mint condition black one came my way recently how could I resist?
A blog post about the Nikon FE is on its way…

The above sign adorns Dave’s Comics in Brighton, East Sussex, a business occupying two shops on Sydney Street… but if memory serves this sign is actually above the one at No.3!

Nikon FG, Nikon Series E 36-72mm f/3.5, – Kodak T-Max T400 CN
Lockdown is giving me chance to look through folders full of (mostly unidentified) negatives…
From the few notes I made at the time I can at least tell that this roll was shot in the summer of 2008 on a Nikon FG and mainly using a Nikon Series E 36-72mm f/3.5 lens.
The FG was one of the first cameras I bought when I returned to shooting film after shooting digital for a few years… I really ought to dig it out and use it again.
