Monochrome Monday… Market Day

I’m slowly gaining confidence when it comes to candid/street photography, it’s a slow process as although cameras are now commonplace, people seem to be far more wary of them.

Market day in Mansfield was a good place to practise though, folks were far more interested in getting their fruit and veg!

My ‘Photography Friday’ outings with Rachel have been fewer and farther between this year but we’ve managed the occasional stroll with our cameras and the above image is from one such outing…

I think this sorry looking specimen was once a Ford Transit van and I certainly don’t imagine there are any salvageable parts here!

The Nottingham Canal hasn’t seen a boat in many years so a covering of ice was only causing a problem for the ducks on this particular February day…

Some more Kodak Tri-X, correctly rated this time…

Although fishing is allowed under in the current lockdown (as a form of exercise apparently) the ‘pegs’ at Pinxton Wharf were unsurprisingly empty on this particularly cold February day.

I’m not really a ‘twitcher’ (although I have just joined the RSPB) but photographing birds whilst out and about is proving to be very enjoyable and the acquisition of a Tamron SP 70-300mm lens for my wife’s Nikon D5500 has made doing so much easier…

Granted, so far a lot of my images are of Robins (Erithacus rubecula) but the UK’s favourite bird is incredibly numerous and not at all shy, making the capturing of images a breeze!

There are many things I miss in these lockdown days but trips to the coast and ‘Photography Friday’ jaunts with Rachel are at the top of the list…
