Fujifilm X20, Fujinon Super EBC 7.1-28.4mm f2~2.8 at 15.4mm, 1/105s, f9, ISO 100
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Seven years ago it was the shadow of a bench that caught my eye whilst changing trains at Derby…
Great Northern Basin, September 2020
Nikon TW20, 35mm lens – Kosmo Foto Mono
Developed in Adox Rodinal at 1:50, 9 mins at 20°c.
Another image from the Nikon TW20 today…
Great Northern Basin on the Cromford Canal at Langley Mill in Derbyshire. I say ‘Cromford Canal’ but the basin was originally part of the mostly abandoned Nottingham Canal that passed under what is now the A608 road just to the right of The Great Northern pub, visible in the background.

Cobweb Bridge, Sheffield
Nikon TW20, 35mm lens – Kosmo Foto Mono
Developed in Adox Rodinal at 1:50, 9 mins at 20°c.
I’ve mentioned my fondness for twin lens (rather than zoom lens) 35mm compact camera before and this roll of Kosmo Foto Mono film has been lurking in one, the Nikon TW20, for a while.
Opened in 2002 the Cobweb Bridge was designed by Sheffield City Council’s Structures Section and carries the Five Weirs Walk under the Wicker Arches railway viaduct while linking one bank of the River Don to the other. The web of steel support wires give the bridge its name. Just visible overhead are the large steel spiders that conceal the lighting.

Single red strawberry
Olympus Stylus XZ-10, i.Zuiko 4.7-23.5mm f1.8~2.7 ED at 19mm, 1/250s, f8, ISO 100
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Six years ago it was a friend’s garden, when this solitary ripe strawberry caught my eye!
Victorian greenhouses, Holkham
Fujifilm X20, Fujinon Super EBC 7.1-28.4mm f2~2.8 at 11mm, 1/350s, f8, ISO 200
Another image from North Norfolk and given the unseasonably soggy May we’re having I thought I’d choose one captured during an unseasonably warm October!
The six-acre walled garden at Holkham Hall is an ongoing restoration project and a wonderful place to while away a slumberous afternoon.
Groyne, Bridlington, November 2019

Another image from my charity shop find Olympus [mju] zoom.
There are many things I miss in these lockdown days but trips to the coast and ‘Photography Friday’ jaunts with Rachel are at the top of the list…

‘Strop’ steps, Bridlington
Olympus [mju:] Zoom, Olympus 35-70mm at 35mm – Rollei RPX 400
Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 10 mins at 20°c.
I’m not going to go into why these steps down to North Beach at Bridlington are known (to some of us at least) as ‘strop’ steps… 😁
What I will say is how pleased I am that the £5.00 Olympus [mju] zoom I picked up from a charity shop last year works perfectly! Bargain!

I love the area around Brighton for photography, so much to see, so many characters! Saltdean, a few miles east of central Brighton, is a much quieter place for a Sunday morning stroll though…
