Slide Film Sunday… Bouquinistes de Paris

Bouquinistes de ParisBouquinistes de Paris

Another honeymoon image for today’s ‘Slide Film Sunday’

The Bouquinistes of Paris are booksellers of used and antiquarian books who ply their trade along large sections of the banks of the River Seine… ‘the only river in the world that runs between two bookshelves’.

An image from September 2000 for today’s ‘Slide Film Sunday’

My first visit to Paris (on honeymoon no less) was when I started to make a conscious effort to include people in my images, the couple chatting on the river bank really making this image for me…

I’m slowly gaining confidence when it comes to street/candid photography and now I’m getting out and about a bit more it’s something I intend doing more of…

Monochrome Monday… Market Day

Nikon F2S, NIKKOR-S.C 50mm f/1.4, 1/500, f8 – Kodak Tri-X rated at ISO 320
Developed in Adox Rodinal at 1:25, 7 mins at 20°c.

I’m slowly gaining confidence when it comes to candid/street photography, it’s a slow process as although cameras are now commonplace, people seem to be far more wary of them.

Market day in Mansfield was a good place to practise though, folks were far more interested in getting their fruit and veg!

Today I’m trying out the excellent Negative Lab Pro plugin for Lightroom with on scans made with my Epson Perfection 4870 Photo flatbed scanner… So far things are looking pretty good!

Following advice on the Negative Lab Pro forum I’m scanning my black & white negatives as 48-bit colour positives (with all sharpening/correction/restoration options turned off). Next thing is to try a few colour negatives!

The above image was taken (I think) the day after a friend’s wedding in October 1999 (Hi Marie! Hi Andy!) during a brief wander around the university city of Cambridge.

I finally got around to sending the roll of Kodacolor VR Plus 400 film (believed to be at least 20 years out of date) I exposed on Expired Film Day 2021 away for processing and here are a couple of the images from that roll.

The local market town of Heanor isn’t the best place to look for colour images on a grey Monday morning but I did my best… 😀
