Nikon F-601, AF NIKKOR 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 at 50mm, 1/250s, f8; – Ilford Delta 400 Professional rated at ISO 800
Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 10½ mins at 20°c.

This is one of the few salavagable shots from a test roll I shot in a Nikon F-601 before Christmas…

Sadly the camera has a couple of faults that render it pretty much unusable, the shutter release has a ‘hair trigger’ and towards the end of the roll the shutter would fire whenever the camera was switched on or off… A real shame, my first Nikon was an F-601 (in 1993/94 I think) and I was hoping to take this one on a trip down memory lane.

I’m struggling with things at the moment so expect a few ‘wordless’ posts over the next few days… ‘Normal’ service will resume shortly.

Developed in Adox Rodinal at 1:25, 7 mins at 20°c.

Some more Kodak Tri-X, correctly rated this time…

Although fishing is allowed under in the current lockdown (as a form of exercise apparently) the ‘pegs’ at Pinxton Wharf were unsurprisingly empty on this particularly cold February day.

Square Saturday… Aysgarth Falls

Bronica SQ-A, Zenzanon-S 80mm f/2.8 – Fuji Superia 100

I haven’t posted a ‘Square Saturday’ in a while… this one is a bit of a test, my first medium format image digitised using the pixl-latr and also the first colour negative.

I’ve no notes for this image but I’m certain it was shot in May 2003, using a friend’s (Hi Dave!) Bronica SQ-A and standard 80mm lens. A neutral density was also obviously used (likely the Lee 100mm 0.6 I’ve had for years).

I really should do a scan of the negative to compare it with but I’m rather pleased with this version…

Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 9 mins at 20°c.

Another shot from the (correctly) repaired Minolta X-700, this time using a lens I’ve had squirelled away for a while. The MC W.ROKKOR 28mm f/2.8 was one of a pair of Minolta lenses found in a charity shop a couple of years ago for a measly £10 (the other is a MC ROKKOR-PF 50mm f/2) and it’s finally getting used!

Here’s hoping that 2021 is kinder to us all than 2020 has been…

A pic from the digital archives today, shot on New Years’s Day 2017 in the Nièvre in central France.

I really must learn to identify trees, I know a silver birch when I see one but that’s about it!

Throwback Thursday… Sky Mirror, December 2013

Nikon D600, AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR at 28mm, 1/200s, f9, ISO 200

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Seven years ago it was the Nottingham Sky Mirror.

Designed by artist Anish Kapoor the 20ft wide stainless steel dish was commissioned by the Nottingham Playhouse and unveiled in April 2007.

The striking structure is a bit hidden away on the edge of Wellington Circus but is well worth visiting, especially when the Playhouse Bar & Kitchen is open!

(One thing this image reminded me of was just how filthy the sensor in the Nikon D600 always seemed to be! I’ve had to clone out a dozen or so ‘blobs’ from the sky…
