A view of Montrose (road) Bridge seen from beneath the South Esk Rail Viaduct in October 2022.
The pretty uninspiring road bridge opened to traffic in 2004 and replaced a much more visually interesting structure dating from 1930. The 1430ft long South Esk Rail Viaduct was built by the North British Railway (NBR) in 1881 and carries a single-track section of the Edinburgh-Aberdeen main line.
