Footbridge over Burbage Brook, August 2011
Panasonic Lumix GF-1, Lumix G Vario OIS 14-45 f/3.5~5.6 at 18mm, 1/125s, f6.3, ISO 200
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Ten years ago it was a footbridge over Burbage Brook in Yarncliffe Wood in the Peak District, in an area better known as Padley Gorge.
I’ve not been up there in a while, it’s a beautiful spot but incredibly difficult to get to yourself!

An image from the FP4+ party on Twitter earlier this year.
I can’t explain why this image keeps catching my eye as I scroll through Lightroom, it just does…
Digitised using Nikon D5500 & AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8, pixl-latr and Negative Lab Pro plugin with minimal cropping and tweaking in Lightroom Classic CC.
‘Most of my photographs were taken on the spur of the moment, very quickly, just as they occurred. All attention focuses on the specific instant, almost too good to be true, which can only vanish in the following one.’

Yet another image from a recent wander along the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal…
I do like a bit of industrial grot! 😁

A tenacious clump of Red Valerian (Centranthus ruber) helps frame this image of the Royal Tweed and Royal Border Bridges.
The four-arch Royal Tweed Bridge is constructed from reinforced concrete and was opened in 1928. The more famous Royal Border Bridge was built to carry the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway over the river and opened in 1850, it still forms part of the East Coast Main Line between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley stations.
