I’ve taken a few photos of Brighton’s West Pier over the years but this is one of my favourites, taken while beachcombing with the younger of my two Godsons…

Biggins Bros Ltd, Sheffield
Olympus OM20, Zuiko Auto-S 50mm f/1.8 – 1/60s, f8, – Rollei RPX 100
I was going to write that in this day and age of tanning salons and nail bars it’s quite refreshing to see a good, old-fashioned ‘Electro Platers to all Trades’ but it would appear that ‘Biggins Bros Ltd’ ceased trading in the year 2000!
The Biggins’ family are still active in Sheffield though, with Silversmith James Biggins producing a range of exquisite silver sculptures, mainly hunting and shooting themed pieces.

Nikon F3HP, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI-S – 1/250s, f11, – Agfa APX 400 rated at ISO 320
I can’t wait to get back to the coast… any bit of coast will do but my favourite is that around Fife in Scotland. A stroll on the beach at Lower Largo followed by a pie and a pint in the Railway Inn would hit the spot today.

Monochrome Monday… Vintage section
Vintage section, December 2018
Fujica GW690 – 1/60s, f8, – JCH Street Pan rated at ISO 800
My first roll of JCH Street Pan film in 120 format. I’m not sure what went wrong but the negatives are very thin indeed… Did I forget to mark the roll for push-processing when I sent it to the lab?
This is part of the vintage section in the Sue Ryder charity shop on Goodramgate in York. They had an assortment of photographic bits and bobs when I called in before Christmas but the only thing I bought was a Sporran!

Yet another shot from my first roll of Rollei RPX 100 film.
Cold and incredibly windy here today… Looking forward to the warmer weather, to days when we can play in the fountains…

A shot from my second roll through a borrowed Fujica GW690.
My fondness for the ‘Texas Leica’ is growing… I’m desperately trying NOT to scout around for one of my own…

Fujifilm X-T1, Fujinon XF 18-135mm f3.5~5.6 R LM OIS WR at 52mm, 1/950s, f11, ISO 400
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Two years ago I was exploring Brighton when I came across a lad practising his tightrope skills on the remnants of the West Pier.
In the 15 minutes I was watching he only fell off once!
