Square Saturday… Another pic from the Diana+

While I’m eagerly awaiting the postie rattling the letter box with an envelope of negatives from AgLab (an envelope that should include two rolls from my charity shop find Diana+), I thought I’d post another image from my first roll with said camera…

Lots more vignetting on this pic and I can only assume that this is down to the wider aperture (the ‘cloudy’ setting) that I used for this, the first shot on the roll.

Monochrome Monday… The Sound Tower

The Sound Tower is part of The Structures on the Edge (SOTE) project, a fascinating series of installations on the Lincolnshire coast.

Designed by R Cannon and M Springett, London, the tower is ‘a device that focuses people’s senses and amplifies the windy nature of the site.’

I’ve no idea what the pipes in the foreground are for…

Square Saturday… First roll in the Diana+

A shot from my first roll in a charity shop find Diana+ camera. I’m not entirely sure how I messed up the film loading but none of the images are even remotely centred on the negative strip, they’re all cropped by the top edge of the film…

I’m quite fond of the little beast though and have a couple more rolls from it waiting development.

Monochrome Monday… St Andrews, Fife

Another shot from October’s holiday in Fife… this time from the “home of golf”.

This scene caught my eye when I glanced over my shoulder during a stroll along the East Scores from the Cathedral to the Castle.

Single frame… White cliffs from Birling Gap, East Sussex

A quick trip to see friends at the weekend gave me the opportunity to spend a little time at one of my favourite places… the coast!

The tiny specks on top of the cliffs are walkers on the South Downs Way and given the rate of erosion on this stretch of coastline they’re a bit too near the edge for my liking!

An enjoyable trip to the Lincolnshire coast today, starting off at Anderby Creek, north of Chapel St. Leonards. A few hundred metres south of the tiny hamlet is the ‘Round and Round House’ a small building ideal for bird watching and accessible from the beach via a wooden boardwalk and steps… Part of the Structures on the Edge (SOTE) project, the building was designed by Soma Design of Morecambe and is one of a number of architectural installations along the 10 mile stretch of coast between Chapel St. Leonards and Mablethorpe.

Single frame… World Wide Pinhole Photography Day

As it’s World Wide Pinhole Photography Day I thought I’d dig out one of the few attempts I’ve made at a pinhole image.

‘Scallop’ is a sculpture on Aldeburgh beach in Suffolk, dedicated to English composer, conductor and pianist Benjamin Britten. Created by Suffolk-based artist Maggi Hambling, the stainless steel piece is made up of two interlocking scallop shells, each broken, the upright shell being pierced with the words: “I hear those voices that will not be drowned”, which are taken from Britten’s opera Peter Grimes.

The image was made during a holiday to the Suffolk coast back in July 2011. Sadly the Wanderlust Pinwide lens doesn’t seem to be available at the moment and if memory serves it was only ever available for micro 4/3 cameras (which I no longer shoot) but I am rather tempted by one of the Skink Pinhole Pancake lenses for my Fujifilm X-T1…
