This image popped up today while I was looking for something else…

The iconic Tees Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough, framed by the remains of the Cleveland Salt Works on Vulcan Street in September 2017.

This fantastic structure has featured here before and no doubt will do so again…

Single frame… A Happy New Year to you all… (hopefully…)

Here’s hoping that 2021 is kinder to us all than 2020 has been…

A pic from the digital archives today, shot on New Years’s Day 2017 in the Nièvre in central France.

I really must learn to identify trees, I know a silver birch when I see one but that’s about it!

A shot from the digital archives tonight…

An unidentified class 377 ‘Electrostar’ electric multiple unit crosses Worthing Road at Angmering with the 19.32 Southern service from Portsmouth & Southsea (the 20.18 from Angmering) to Brighton on 20 May 2015. I didn’t have a tripod with me so rested my camera on top of a handy fence post and hoped for the best!

This pic cropped up tonight while I was looking for something else entirely, my archives definitely need a good sort out!

Nikon D600, Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.4D, 1/160s, f11, ISO 200

A shot from the digital archives today… I remember getting more than a few strange looks as I stood in the middle of Listergate in Nottingham, apparently photographing people’s feet!

I sometimes miss the low light performance of the full-frame Nikon D600 but I don’t miss the weight or bulk (or the perpetually grubby sensor!)

Sony α100, Sony DT 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 at 50mm, 1/320s, f11, ISO 200

I recently found an old hard drive lurking in a drawer and on it were some images that I took in 2007 using a Sony α100 that had been a prize in a ‘first name out of the hat’ competition in a photography magazine.

I was using a Nikon D200 at the time and after taking a couple of hundred images with the Sony I passed it on to my wife (who didn’t get on with it at all and traded it in for a Nikon D80 a few months later if memory serves me…)

The above image is of a door belonging to a London, Midland & Scottish Railway Third Sleeper carriage that was awaiting scrapping at the Midland Railway-Butterley in Derbyshire.
