Fujica GW690 – 1/250s, f11, – Bergger Pancro 400
Some more films back from the lab today… This is another image from the Fujica GW 690 that I’ve currently got on loan and it’s on my first roll of Bergger Pancro 400 film.
It’s difficult to judge from just eight shots but the results from this film are quite soft (contrast-wise) which isn’t something I’m particularly used to… I’m pleased with the images though and will order a couple more rolls to experiment with.

Olympus OM-1N, Zuiko Auto-S 50mm f/1.8 – 1/1000s, f4, – Rollei RPX 400 rated at ISO 320
The first weekend in January saw a trip to the National Trust property of Calke Abbey in Derbyshire with my Olympus OM-1N (loaded with Rollei RPX 400) and a couple of Zuiko prime lenses.
I didn’t venture inside the house itself, preferring to wander in the gardens on such an unseasonably warm day.
Sadly it would appear that the OM-1N is in need of new light seals but as soon as I’ve done that little job it’ll be back in use…

Tranquillity, Trent & Mersey Canal, February 2019
Fujica GW690 – 1/500s, f16, – Rollei RPX 400 rated at ISO 800
Tranquillity… a 60ft long narrow boat, moored on the Trent & Mersey Canal near Keepers Lock at Fradley Junction.
A brisk morning stroll and a spot of ‘gongoozling’ before the first outdoor pub lunch of the year (and a couple of pints of Everards Tiger) at The Swan.

Cley Windmill, March 2015
Fujifilm X-E1, Fujinon XF 18-55mm f2.8~4 R LM OIS at 33mm, 1/25s, f3.6, ISO 3200
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Four years ago it was the windmill at Cley next the Sea in Norfolk.
The light was fading rapidly and unfortunately my tripod was packed underneath everything else in the boot of the car so I had to rely on the 18-55’s Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) and a high ISO to get any image at all…

Olympus OM-2 Spot/Program, Zuiko Auto-T 100mm f/2.8 – 1/125s, f8½, – Ilford HP5 Plus rated at ISO 640
A wander in the woods last week to have a play with a pinhole camera also gave me the chance to finish off a roll of Ilford HP5 Plus that’s been sitting in an Olympus OM-2 Spot/Program since December…
I certainly had more success with the Olympus than with the pinhole camera, the shots from that definitely won’t be appearing on here!

Some more ‘gongoozling’ on a recent Photography Friday outing, this time at Fradley Junction, where the Trent & Mersey and Coventry Canals meet…
It was also warm enough for the first outdoor pub lunch of the year (and a couple of pints of Everards Tiger) at The Swan.

Fountains Abbey, May 1998

Something from the archives today…
Fountains Abbey near Ripon in North Yorkshire was founded in 1132 and became one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution in 1539 under the order of Henry VIII.
Now a Grade I listed building, the abbey is owned by the National Trust.
Ilford SFX 200 is a film I really should shoot again, I rather like its effects…

Single frame… St Pancras Basin
St Pancras Basin, February 2019
Nikon FE2, Nikkor 35mm f/2 AI-S – 1/125s, f8, – Kodak Portra 800 rated at ISO 400
A couple of hours between trains in London recently gave me the opportunity to explore St Pancras Basin on the Regent’s Canal. It’s an interesting location, one worth further visits (in better weather!)
The dull weather actually suited my purposes with this image though… the drab sky and grey catenary powering the Channel Tunnel Rail Link contrast rather nicely with the colourful boats and brickwork surrounding the basin.
