Hove, July 2021
Canon EOS 30, EF 40mm f/2.8 STM, 1/180s, f11, Kodak UltraMax 400 rated at ISO 200
… or ‘Hove actually’ as I believe it’s sometimes known.
I don’t use enough colour film! That’s it. That’s today’s post!

Handyside Bridge, Chester Green
Nikon FA, NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8 Ai-S, 1/250s, f11 – Ilford HP5 Plus rated at ISO 320
Developed in Ilford DDX at 1:4, 9 mins at 20°c.
Last Friday I had a gentle stroll around Chester Green in Derby and crossed the River Derwent on this bridge.
Known as ‘Handyside Bridge’ it originally carried the Derbyshire and Staffordshire Extension of the Great Northern Railway and was built in 1878 by local engineers Andrew Handyside and Company.
The riveted wrought iron structure saw its last train in May 1968 (when the Derbyshire and Staffordshire Extension closed) and was converted to a footbridge in 1976.
Digitised using Nikon D5600 & AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8 and Nikon ES-2 Film Digitising Adapter with minimal cropping and tweaking in Lightroom Classic CC.

Panasonic Lumix GF1, Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8, 1/8s, f3.5, ISO 100
I thought this image (from 2012) was suitable for the first of the first…
Leash Fen, December 2021
Fujifilm X-E4, Fujinon XF 90mm f2 R LM WR, 1/850s, f11, ISO 160
A slow drive through the Peak District on a bright December day was just what the doctor ordered yesterday and I stopped a few times to take pics… Leash Fen is just inside the eastern border of the National Park and an area I’ve never really explored before but I’m planning a return visit as soon as possible.

Olympus OM20, Zuiko Auto-Macro 50mm f/3.5, 1/125s, f11; – Kodak ColorPlus rated at ISO 100
An image from one of my first colour rolls developed by Analogue Wonderland’s new ‘Wonderlab’
They certainly won’t be the last rolls I send them though… lovely clean negatives (albeit sleeved in strips of four, I prefer strips of six) and excellent scans make me a very happy bunny!

Fujifilm X-T10, Fujinon XF 18-55mm f2.8~4 R LM OIS at 30mm, 1/320s, f11, ISO 200
Another pic from the (digital) archive (and another from the North Norfolk coast!) This time taken five years ago today!
A few pics from the same day (taken on film) can be found here.
Weybourne Hope, October 2011
Nikon D300, AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR at 80mm, 1/125s, f11, ISO 200
A quick pic from the (digital) archives today… it popped up while I was looking for something else and as it was taken ten years ago today I thought I’d include it!
Weybourne Hope is where the shingle spit of Blakeney Point meets the North Norfolk cliffs and there is an old saying that refers to the deep inshore water here that would allow ships to unload troops and stores here in the event of an invasion.
‘He who would all England win, should at Weybourne Hope begin’
