Another image from my recent wander around Matlock Bath in June.

“In 1887 an iron bridge of 85 feet span was constructed, at a cost of £230, connecting the promenade with Lovers’ Walk, and at the same time the Promenade was laid out at a cost of £700” (an extract from Kelly’s Directory of Derbyshire, 1908).

An image from a wander around Matlock Bath in June. The 1864ft long gondola lift links the spa town Matlock Bath with the Heights of Abraham, a hilltop park on top of Masson Hill.

The heights are named after a supposed resemblance to the Plains of Abraham, also known as the Heights of Abraham, in Quebec, Canada, where James Wolfe died in battle.

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Twelve years ago it was fishing boats on the beach at Aldeburgh in Suffolk.

Yet another place on my ‘must revisit’ list!

An image from May 2001 for today’s ‘Slide Film Sunday’

Again I’ve no notes as to the camera or film used for the above pic but I’m reasonably sure it was taken using a Nikon F90X, AF NIKKOR 24-85mm f/2.8-4D and Fujichrome Sensia film.

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Ten years ago it was a footbridge over Burbage Brook in Yarncliffe Wood in the Peak District, in an area better known as Padley Gorge.

I’ve not been up there in a while, it’s a beautiful spot but incredibly difficult to get to yourself!
