What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
14 years ago I was snapping away on a walk through Wensleydale (‘cracking cheese Gromit!’)
This image proves that it’s worth turning around to look where you’ve been from time to time… this clump of trees in Wensley Park was only lit like this for a few seconds!

Here’s hoping that 2021 is kinder to us all than 2020 has been…
A pic from the digital archives today, shot on New Years’s Day 2017 in the Nièvre in central France.
I really must learn to identify trees, I know a silver birch when I see one but that’s about it!
Throwback Thursday… Blackwell Mill
Blackwell Mill, January 2012
Panasonic Lumix GF-1, Lumix G Vario OIS 14-45 f/3.5~5.6 at 28mm, 1/200s, f6.3, ISO 200
What was I photographing on this day in previous years?
Eight years ago it was this row of cottages in the Peak District.
The eight railway workers’ cottages at Blackwell Mill in Derbyshire were served by a tiny railway station, Blackwell Mill Halt, until March 1967 when it, and the whole railway line between Matlock and Chinley was closed.
The railway line on the left still links Buxton with the quarries at Tunstead and Peak Forest.
