Seaside Shelter Shopping Trolley, Hunstanton
Contax T2 – 1/60s, f8, – O.O.D. Ilford Pan F Plus
A teatime picnic on the cliffs at Hunstanton a couple of months ago was a very pleasant end to a trip to Norfolk and it gave me the opportunity to snap this obviously lost shopping trolley!

Fife Ness, October 2018
Seagull 4A – 1/300s, f8 – Ilford HP5 Plus rated at ISO 320
I received five rolls of film back from the lab today, this image is from a roll of Ilford HP5 Plus shot in a charity shop find Seagull 4A twin-lens reflex camera.
Fife Ness is a headland that forms the most easterly point in Fife, Scotland and consists mainly of a windswept golf course and a light house.
The circular marks in the rocks in the foreground are the remains of a template for a lighthouse that was started in 1813 by the engineer Robert Stevenson. The cut stones for the tower were checked against these marks to ensure they would fit perfectly before being shipped out to the offshore North Carr Reef. Construction ended in 1818 when the almost complete lighthouse was destroyed in a winter storm.

As winter approaches I’m already looking forward to hot days, picnicking somewhere quiet with views across the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. From this particular spot near Wirksworth, The Wrekin, the Long Mynd and Clee Hill (in Shropshire) can all be seen on a clear day.

32434 Private D. Revitt R.A.M.C.
Private Revitt was a postman in the 69th Field Ambulance, part of the 23rd Division who were involved in the capture of Contalmaison, a village four miles north-east of Albert in the Somme department in Picardie (now part of the new region Hauts-de-France).
On the 6th July a cry went out for stretcher bearers to retrieve the wounded and Private Revitt volunteered.
He was killed in action and his body buried on the battlefield.
Douglas Revitt was my great-uncle.
Tomorrow at 06.00 I’ll be attending the first part of Battle’s Over, a nationwide day of commemorative events marking the centenary of the end of the First World War and paying tribute to the millions killed or wounded in battle, and those on the home front who struggled amidst pain and loss to help ensure freedom survived.
‘Women of Steel’
Olympus OM20, Zuiko Auto-S 50mm f/1.8 – 1/500s, f2.8, – Rollei RPX 100
Yet another shot from my first roll of Rollei RPX 100 film.
‘Women of Steel’ is a bronze sculpture that commemorates the women of Sheffield who worked in the city’s steel industry during World War I and World War II. Sculpted by Martin Jennings, it was unveiled at Barker’s Pool in June 2016.

The striking looking building in the centre of this image is Sheffield’s Charles Street Car Park, more commonly known as the ‘Cheese Grater’.
Designed by architects Allies and Morrison and opened in 2008, the ten storey structure contains 520 parking spaces and was voted ‘third coolest car park in the world’ in a 2013 competition.
