Monochrome Monday… Sarah Ann

Nikkormat FT2, NIKKOR-S.C 50mm f/1.4, 1/125, f5.6 – Kodak Tri-X rated at ISO 200
Developed in Adox Rodinal at 1:25, 7 mins at 20°c.

Another image from a roll that’s been sitting in a camera for months!

As an afterthought the last thing I packed for my trip to the Isle of Whithorn in October 2019 was an untested Nikkormat FT2 loaded with a roll of Kodak Tri-X (rated at ISO 200 by mistake).

When it came to (finally) developing the film I thought ‘in for a penny, in for a pound’ and decided to use Adox Rodinal, a developer I’d never used before (a couple of people have expressed surprise at that fact!)

I’ve not shot much Tri-X so making comparisons is difficult but at first look I’m rather pleased with how this roll has turned out, with just the right amount of contrast and pleasant grain. It’ll be interesting to see how the roll of Tri-X (rated at ISO 400 this time) I’ve just finished compares…

An image from this day last year, a day spent (as was the whole week) on the beautiful Isle of Whithorn in Dumfries & Galloway.

This pic was submitted to, and published in, The Scotsman that very week (although the subtle colours got a bit lost on newsprint!)

Yet another Fujica GW690/Kodak T-Max 400/Y15 filter image from last year’s Scottish holiday…

I really can’t wait to visit Scotland again and my fingers are tightly crossed that the trip I’ve got booked for later this year will be able to go ahead…

Yet another image from last year’s Scottish holiday…

Port William is a fishing village on the eastern shore of Luce Bay in Dumfries and Galloway, founded by Sir William Maxwell in 1770.

Gavin Maxwell, who wrote the book Ring of Bright Water (1960) about how he brought an otter back from Iraq and raised it in Scotland, was a decendant of Sir William and was born in 1914 in the nearby village of Elrig.

Fujica GW690 + Y15 yellow filter – 1/250s, f11, – Kodak T-Max 400

Finally got around to scanning the films from my recent trip to the Isle of Whithorn!

Just before the trip I invested in a Tiffen Y15 yellow filter for the Fujica GW 690 that I’ve (still… thanks James!) got on loan and it stayed on the camera all week.

I’m not sure, but this might have been my first time shooting Kodak T-Max 400… If so, why haven’t I used it sooner? I love the combination of this film and filter!
