Throwback Thursday… It’s a bit wild out there! Cromer, September 2015

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Four years ago it was the Pier and Promenade at Cromer in Norfolk… Mid-storm!

This was taken during our last stay in a friend’s static caravan on the cliffs at East Runton, less than a mile and a half down the coast from Cromer.

Following on from yesterday’s piece of Americana, today it’s the turn of this 1955 Pontiac Star Chief… both vehicles (and many more) were photographed at MFN‘s ‘American ‘n’ Classic Car ‘n’ Truck ‘n’ Bike’ show on Sunday.

The Star Chief was manufactured by General Motors’ Pontiac division between 1954 and 1966 and this particular example is powered by a 287 cu in (4.7l) V8 engine.

The two wide ‘silver streaks’ and the ‘Indian’ hood ornament caught my eye; the latter apparently lights up when the car’s headlights are turned on!

I love finding these old, faded road signs… This one in Arundel, West Sussex is screwed to the castle wall and still (vaguely) points the way to the car park.

I don’t know how old this sign is but it predates the current style of signage on British roads which came into use in the mid 1960s following a review by the Worboys Committee.

Throwback Thursday… Fat Stan

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Ten years ago it was local rock band Fat Stan, strutting their stuff in the Crossed Pistons Saloon at the Rock and Blues Custom Show in Derbyshire.

I don’t think I’ve ever had such good access to a stage as I did here, not only that but I’d got two massive bikers keeping a watchful eye on my gear!
