Bungay Street in Sheffield, photographed on a brisk morning a couple of weeks ago… it’s hard to imagine now but until the 1960s there were terraced houses running up both sides.

Crich Tramway Village is only a few miles from here and it’s somewhere I really should visit more often… This pic of Leeds City Tramways No.399 was actually taken on Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day last year, at the same time as the one posted here.

I’d love to know how a man born in Odessa in the Ukraine in 1823 (then part of Imperial Russia) ended up buried in the small Derbyshire village of Pentrich (best known for the Pentrich Revolution of 1817).

Great Northern Basin on the Cromford Canal at Langley Mill in Derbyshire. I say ‘Cromford Canal’ but the basin was originally part of the mostly abandoned Nottingham Canal that passed under what is now the A608 road just to the right of The Great Northern pub, visible in the background.

La Maison Rose, Septembre 2000
La Maison Rose (the pink house) is a wonderful little restaurant, originally owned by the Catalan painter Ramon Pichot (1871-1925) and his wife Germaine Gargallo (1880-1948) who was an artist’s model and lover of Picasso for many years.
