What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

12 years ago it was Morecambe Bay and the distant Heysham Nuclear Power Station.

The light was constantly changing thanks to a combination of clouds and a strong wind and had we not been on our way elsewhere I would’ve spent a lot more time here (although I can’t remember exactly where ‘here’ was!)

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

Nine years ago it was boats on the River Trent at Sawley in Derbyshire.

Actually the River Trent forms the border between Derbyshire and Leicestershire here but I think Petrel No.1 is far enough across to still be in Derbyshire!

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

12 years ago it was this seascape at Sidmouth in Devon, using (I think) an ND 3.0 (10-stop) filter to lengthen the exposure time.

Editing this pic in Lightroom reminded me (again) of how dirty the sensor on the D600 used to get… definitely the worst camera I’ve ever owned for that!

What was I photographing on this day in previous years?

10 years ago it was the ‘Love Locks’ adorning Weir Bridge in Bakewell, Derbyshire…

An estimated 40,000 locks were removed from the bridge in September 2004 and the bridge redesigned to prevent more locks being attached. The locks were relocated to nearby Thornbridge Hall where they now form ‘The Love Locker’.

I wonder if Lewis and Kathryn are still together?
